Celebration in Memory of Our Founder!

A Day-Long Program Celebrating The Life Of The
Founder Of The DuSable Museum

The DuSable Museum of African American History will honor the life and legacy of its Founder, Dr. Margaret Taylor Goss Burroughs, during a day-long Celebration entitled, “Dr. Margaret Burroughs: In Her Own Words.” The event will take place on Sunday, November 13, 2011 from 12:00 NOON until 5:00 PM at the Museum which is located at 740 East 56th Place (57th Street and South Cottage Grove Avenue) in Chicago.

The highly acclaimed Congo Square Theatre Company will headline a group of performers who will present a staged reading of poetry written and published by Dr. Burroughs during the course of her life. In addition, the Celebration will also feature a screening of the film, “What Shall I Tell My Children Who Are Black,” visual artists, arts and crafts workshops for children, musical performances by individuals influenced during her incredible life and tours of the exhibit, “Phenomenal Woman” dedicated to Dr. Burroughs.
