Family Open House
Every generation is faced with challenges that are specific to that time, and every generation must respond to those challenges in their own way.
Museum guests can begin their day at the Free Breakfast Café, for an authentic Panther Breakfast and discussion with Former Panther Wanda Ross. Following, guests will also be able to experience and learn the ways in which poor children and their parents were engaged over breakfast in 1963, which was the precursor for what we now know as the free breakfast program in public schools.
Additionally, see how young people were able to make a difference in the Civil Rights Movement when they view the film: “The Children’s March”, and don’t forget to visit the children’s art area where professional artists will show them how to make art not war.
The day will conclude with Chocolate Chip Theatre’s original performance inspired by the history and legacy of the Black Panthers.
