Black Mexico: Afro-Mexican Studies Symposium
This scholarly symposium promises to be a fascinating dialogue about the historic and contemporary relations between Afro-Americans, Afro-Latinos, and Mexicans. Panel moderator, Dr. Ramon Guiterrez, Director, Center for the Study of Race, Politics & Culture, University of Chicago, will pose thought-provoking questions to our panelists of experts; Mr. Carlos Flores, Chairperson of the Afro-Latino Institute of Chicago; Dr. Maria Rosario Jackson, Senior Research Associate at the Urban Institute in Washington, DC; Dr. John D. Marquez, Asst. Professor of African American & Latino Studies at Northwestern University; and Dr. Ben Vinson, III, Professor of History at John Hopkins University.
