On August 28, 1955, the kidnapping of Emmitt Till was witnessed by his cousin, Simeon Wright. To coincide with the opening of ‘Freedom’s Sisters’, an exhibition created by Cincinnati Museum Center, organized for travel by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES) and made possible through the generous support of Ford Motor Company Fund, DuSable Museum is proud to present the lecture and book signing of ‘Simeon’s Story: An Eyewitness Account of the Kidnapping of Emmitt Till’. Mr. Wright will read excerpts from his book and discuss events leading to one of the most notable and tragic periods in American History, which served to ignite the Civil Rights Movement.
Following the lecture and book signing, a 30-minute excerpt from the play, “The Life of Mamie Till Mosley” will be performed by the Emmitt Till Players.
