Dr. Clovis Semmes is a 1978 graduate of Northwestern University with a doctorate in sociology. He has taught at numerous universities over the last several decades including the University of Illinois at Chicago and Eastern Michigan University. Presently, he is preparing to assume the directorship of African American Studies at the University of Missouri at Kansas City, along with a full professorship in sociology. He is the author of several books including his latest, The Regal Theater And Black Chicago. His lecture is entitled “The Regal Theater: National Entertainment Icon of Black America.”
