True Colors: How the Dred Scott Decision Defined America

“A PECULIAR RELATIONSHIP: BLACK FOLKS AND THE CONSTITUTION SERIES WITH PROFESSOR WILLIE DIXON”

It is written in the Bible, “My people perish for the lack of knowledge.” The same can be said for African Americans that do not recognize their unique relationship to the United States Constitution. In a five-part lecture series that runs February through April, Professor Willie Dixon will explore the U. S. Constitution in all of its ideals, complexities, dualities, and its impact on African Americans. Professor Dixon will uncover the origins of the “living” document and how its authors curiously advocated for liberty and justice, all the while ignoring the hypocrisy of their forced labor of African people. Professor Dixon is an award-winning historian and educator with City Colleges of Chicago. He is a highly sought after speaker because of his uncompromising understanding of American history, and its impact on people of African descent.
