12:30 PM – Film: “The Murder of Fred Hampton”

2:00 PM – Panel Discussion: The Black Panthers had chapters nationwide, including two chapters outside of the United States. However, the largest chapter was located in Illinois.
On December 4th, 1969, Fred Hampton the young, intelligent and charismatic head of the Chicago chapter along with Mark Clark was assassinated in an act of extrajudicial punishment by local police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Following the loss of Hampton’s leadership, the Illinois chapter of the Black Panthers continued advocating for justice and influencing public policy.
