Postal Portraits: African Americans and Stamps

Extended
On January 8, 2006, the U.S. Postal Service issued the latest stamp in the ever popular Black Heritage Commemorative Stamp series. The Hattie McDaniel commemorative stamp marks the 29th stamp of the Black Heritage series, which salutes outstanding African American activitsts, theorists, educators, artists and leaders.
This exhibition provides a selection of some of the stamps developed through the years to pay tribute to African American trailblazers.
