Jitney at the DuSable Museum
August Wilson was one of the most influential playwrights of his generation; the Century Cycle, his series of ten plays dramatizing African American life in each decade of the twentieth century, continues to be produced in theaters across the country. In this exhibit at the DuSable Museum of African American History, explore the life and career of August Wilson and go behind the scenes of Court Theatre’s new production of Wilson’s Jitney, a play about jitney cab drivers in the 1970s. View costume designs, set models, and other production artifacts to learn how Court Theatre brings August Wilson to the stage.
