34th Annual Arts & Crafts Festival July 12 & 13

Chicago, IL. (26 June 2008)—-Mark your calendars, pack your sun-screen, round up your friends and relatives, gas up the car (or take public transportation) and head to the beautiful southside of Chicago to the country’s first African American History Museum on Saturday, July 12, 2008 and Sunday, July 13, 2008 from 12:00 NOON until 8:00 PM, when the DuSable Museum of African American History will present it’s world-renowned 34th Annual Arts and Crafts Festival. The event will take place at the Museum which is located at 740 East 56th Place (57th Street at South Cottage Grove Avenue) in Chicago’s Washington Park. A fun-filled good time has been planned …and best of all, it’s FREE!

Groundbreaking Exhibition To Open At The DuSable Museum April 18, 2008

Chicago, IL. (10 April 2008)—- The DuSable Museum of African American History will present the most comprehensive exhibition to ever explore the issues of the Vietnam War from an African American perspective. “Soul Soldiers: African Americans and the Vietnam Era,” which tells the story of the impact of the Vietnam War on African American life and culture by examining both Vietnam and the Civil Rights Movement.

Forgotten Roots: Muslims in Early America

Chicago, IL. (3 July 2008)—- The DuSable Museum of African American History will present the exhibition “Forgotten Roots: Muslims in Early America Through the 20th Century,” which examines the history of America through her Islamic lens. The exhibition, organized by Collections & Stories of American Muslims will open on July 9, 2008 and continue through October 1, 2008 at the Museum, which is located at 740 East 56th Place (57th Street and South Cottage Grove Avenue) in Chicago.
