Mobile Museum Driver
Job Profile and Description
DuSable Museum seeks a driver for our educational mobile museum outreach vehicle. The mobile museum outreach vehicle travels to schools, hospitals, senior citizen centers, festivals, etc. Driver is responsible for inspecting and driving vehicle to prescheduled venues and assisting people with safely boarding and departing from the vehicle. The vehicle is equipped with a wheelchair lift and the driver is also responsible for the safe loading and unloading persons with disabilities. All applicants must demonstrate the ability to drive vehicle safely and appropriately, including ability to read and interpret road signs; ability to read, understand, and adhere to the rules and regulations of the Federal Transit Administration and United States Department of Transportation. Driver should also have an understanding of profession and appropriate engagement with the public; especially children. Applicant should also possess effective communication skills and maintain a professional appearance
Drivers should have reasonable knowledge of the operations and features of assigned vehicle(s); ability to recognize vehicle maintenance needs; ability to perform minor vehicle repairs Driver is also responsible for understanding the contents of the mobile museum and assisting an outreach coordinator with interpreting the vehicle’s content to passengers.
