City of Chicago celebrates its First Annual ‘Chaka Khan Day’!
The DuSable Museum and Chaka Khan celebrated the first annual Chaka Khan day! We were honored and absolutely delighted on Saturday, July 27th as Chaka Khan came to The DuSable Museum to celebrate her street naming. We would like to thank all of the Caterers: Fan Fares Catering; Starz Custom Catering; Heart and Soul; Melon Express; Lenore’s Kitchen; KP Staffing; A&S Liquors; and Brown Sugar Bakery for making this event one to remember. The city honored the music legend with a birthday tribute in Millennium Park Saturday. She also had a stretch of Blackstone Avenue in Hyde Park named in her honor. The Chicago native recently turned 60 years-old, and is celebrating 40 years in the music business. Chaka Khan, who was born Yvette Marie Stevens, went to high school at Kenwood Academy, just steps from the newly named “Chaka Khan Way”. Chaka Khan is saying thanks with a free concert in Millennium Park Sunday, at 6 p.m. We took tons of photos of this event and posted them on Facebook with the rest of our albums.
