In 2020, TIME and executive producer Viola Davis invite you to experience THE MARCH,  a groundbreaking immersive exhibit that re-creates one of the most iconic moments in American history, the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom.

Become one of the 250,000-plus people who came to participate that day—and witness firsthand as Martin Luther King Jr. delivers his iconic “I Have a Dream” speech—in a genre-pushing virtual reality experience that draws on the personal stories of organizers and demonstrators who were there.

TIME has reimagined Dr. King’s iconic ‘I Have A Dream’ speech for the present moment. The video features a selection of noteworthy individuals and activists reading sections of the speech, underscoring the parallels between the Civil Rights Movement of the 60’s and the global non-violent demonstrations of today.

About The March

THE MARCH is an immersive exhibit featuring groundbreaking immersive technologies. It starts with an audio experience that teaches you about the beginnings of the civil rights movement. You are then invited to travel back in time via virtual reality to attend the 1963 March on Washington and witness firsthand the iconic "I Have a Dream” speech.

TIME has also partnered with AI storytelling pioneer StoryFile to create an interactive video interview with a real civil rights activist. This installation is included with museum admission and does not require
advance booking. #MarchOn

BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE MARCH

In 1963, a quarter of a million people came out to participate in the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. Now, in virtual reality, a new generation can
experience the impact and emotion of that day.

Learn how this immersive experience is allowing one man who attended the 1963 demonstration to revisit that history with his great-grandson, one of 80 actors selected from thousands who responded to a call to participate in the motion-capture stage of the process.
